    Clinton Young
I would just say if you’re a real estate professional, you’re an investor, you’re a founder led business and, you’re not speaking. I just want to put this hand cap on there. If you’re not speaking, if you’re not utilizing speaking, the number one way to grow your impact, your trust with your clients and your business, you are missing the biggest boat on the planet. You are, you’re just missing it. And the people that are willing to have the courage to go out and do it.

are going to be the ones that are going to leave you in the dust, right? A lot of people say AI this, AI that. Yeah, AI is great. And you’re right. If you’re not harnessing AI in some capacity, you’re also going to get left a little bit. But I’ll tell you what, there’s nothing that beats human connection. There’s nothing that beats a real person being able to communicate like you and I are right now, exchanging. That’s an energy exchange, right? There’s nothing that beats that. That’s what gives you the tingles, baby, right? So if you’re not doing that, if you’re not speaking, you are going to get left behind, right?

    Quentin Edmonds (01:32)
Hello everyone. Welcome to the Real Estate Pro Podcast. I am your host, Q Edmonds. And you know what I’m gonna say? I’m excited to be here today. It’s always a gift and a pleasure when I can talk to somebody and we get to see things from their perspective, right? Y’all know what I say. I say it all the time. They are an expert at what they do. Nobody knows them like themselves. And so I love when people come with their authentic story and when people come with what they do best. And today we kind of got a…

I know he’s an expert at knowing himself, but he’s kind of very, very good at what he does. I mean, he talks to people that’s very high caliber. This is not somebody that’s just, hey, you know, I’m just talking his talk. No, he has the receipts. And so I’m really excited for us to peek through the lens of Mr. Clinton Young. Mr. Clinton, how you doing today,

    Clinton Young (02:25)
Quentin, I am doing amazing. So great to be here with you,

    Quentin Edmonds (02:27)
    Absolutely,

I love it. Funny story, my dad jokingly would call me Clinton growing up. So he just, just as a joke, he so said, he’s like, Clinton come here, because you know, I get Clinton, I get Bill Clinton, get Quincy, I get all this stuff. So just as a joke, I’ve heard your name before in my life, believe it or not.

    Clinton Young (02:42)
    Dude.

    I

am right there with you. If I could get a dollar for every time I’ve been called Quentin or Clifford or Clayton. Yeah, I got you, man. I got you. We’re here, We’re together.

    Quentin Edmonds (02:53)
    We got out of

that. Well, listen, man, I’m so glad you’re here. This is going to be fun. So I want to dial right in. I want you to tell the people what your main focus is these days. I would love, we love origin stories, kind of the hero’s journey, kind of how you got to being proficient in what you do. And then also, if you don’t mind, tell them geographically where you are in the world. So Clinton, sir, you have the floor,

    Clinton Young (03:00)
    Yeah. Let’s do it.

Absolutely man. So I’m to start off with who I am, where I’m from, I’ll get into the story in a minute. So Clinton Young, San Diego, California. I am a professional keynote speaker. What that means is I get paid to go and speak at conferences, sales kickoff meetings, entrepreneur retreats, masterminds, et cetera. And I’m also a coach for real estate professionals and founder led businesses who want to grow their business through using

speaking the number one way on the planet to grow your impact, your trust with your clients or potential clients. And then of course your revenues and your clients. so yeah, that’s what I, that’s what I do. My origin story kind of how the heck did I end up there? Well, I’ve always been Q. I’ve, can I call you Q? Can I call you Q? Why we got a Q basis? All right, cool. All right.

    Quentin Edmonds (04:07)
    Absolutely, Ken. Absolutely, yes, sir.

    Clinton Young (04:12)
So I spent a lot of years in the real estate education space. That’s why I attract a lot of real estate professionals. work with a lot of real estate brokers, agents, teams, loan officers, private money lenders, educators in the real estate space. In fact, some of the people that have been on your show and the show with Mike are actually my clients, right? So yeah, I attract a lot of people in that space because that’s where I’ve been for the last 15, 20 years in that.

real estate education space, working for some of the biggest companies out there and leaders in the real estate education space, multifamily, fix and flip, rehabbing, et cetera, all the things. So how did I get there though? I’d always been someone, Quentin, who ⁓ followed my, not only my intuition, but the flow. I’m going to introduce a concept called the flow.

Right? And we all should be listening here, paying attention to this concept right here, because if you’re not in the flow in your life or in your career, then you’re doing something wrong. And part of it is just not being aware of what the heck the flow is. So what do I mean when I say that? What’s that thing that when you do it, time flies by, Quinton? Like time flies by, you’re having so much fun, and you’re actually adding more value when you’re in the flow, because…

That is where it’s not the easy path, but it is the path of least resistance. It’s what are those things that your personality, your makeup automatically will flow to in any given role that you have because it gives you life. It gives you energy when you’re in the flow versus when you’re doing something like for me, getting behind a computer on spreadsheets or figuring stuff out data wise, like that makes me want to run out into traffic, right?

So, but you get the microphone in my hand, that gives me life, that gives me energy. So I always gravitated toward, before I even knew what personal growth was, before I even know what my personality profile was, amazing profile, by the way, flowprofiles.com, it’s all about the flow, it’s banging, it’s amazing. So basically I’ve always gravitated towards that and it’s always, I guess guided me to opportunities or roles in leadership.

    Quentin Edmonds (06:20)
    Love it.

    Clinton Young (06:31)
or in sales where you naturally have to pick up the microphone. You naturally have to lead a small group or speak at a meeting or speak at a conference. And what I realized is I got more into personal growth and development and my true origin story in 2008. I don’t know if we have time to go into that, but I crashed and burned. We all know what happened in 2008, right? With the global financial crisis. I was in real estate. I had a couple of rental properties. And within literally 2008, January,

I had $60,000 of new business in the pipeline. At that time, I was an early entrepreneur. is the first time I ever made six figures coming from corporate America and starting off as a real estate investor and also a sales. I sold real estate education at the same time. I was flying high, but I was pretty green, right? And so 60 grand in my pipeline at that time in that one month, that would have been my highest month ever at that time. And it evaporated overnight, evaporated overnight.

went to zero and within months, Quentin, I lost my properties. I lost my business. I lost my credit score. And this is six months after getting engaged, right? Welcome to the team. Welcome to the team, baby. Luckily, luckily we’re still married. We’re still married. It’s been, it’s been some ups and downs, baby. but anyways, I, ⁓ I really went through some dark times and you know, I, ⁓ I find myself, ⁓ in that journey.

    Quentin Edmonds (07:40)
    Wow. Yeah. Right.

    Yeah.

    Clinton Young (08:00)
really doing some internal work. I kind of went through a little bit of a spiritual awakening process and I find myself at a microphone, picture this. I’m at this event called Landmark Education. It’s a seminar and I’m at the microphone. I’m not leading this seminar at all. Dude, I am broken. Like I am shattered. Okay. My confidence is shattered. Anyone ever been like that? You ever been in that spot where you just confidence is just broken? And I’m at the mic and the seminar leader looks right at me.

    Quentin Edmonds (08:13)
    Mm-hmm.

    Clinton Young (08:30)
Q and he says, Clinton, you’re dead inside. Dude, I was just like, it was like a steak to my freaking heart. But he was right. And I knew in that moment, I knew in that moment, you know that little pilot light under a stove? Everybody knows a gas stove, right? We still have gas stoves here. We’re not away from those yet. Well, that little pilot light, my pilot light was flickering at best. It was almost out. And I knew in that moment, Q,

that I had to reignite my human spirit. I had to reignite my human spirit. I’ll fast forward the story here, because I don’t want to get back to some questions, but I went on this journey the next couple of years and I practiced these habits that I now have codified called black sheep habits. That’s also another gift if people want to grab that, blacksheephabits.com. You can get my top seven black sheep habits that are practiced by the top real estate professionals, entrepreneurs, CEOs.

    Quentin Edmonds (09:17)
    and

    Clinton Young (09:27)
fighter pilots, NASA, Olympians, these are some amazing habits that will create clarity. And I’m out on a walk in nature, one of the black sheep habits is called contemplation, right? I’m out there in nature taking a walk and Q hit me like a Harry Potter thunderbolt right between the eyes. And I realized in that moment that my purpose was to reignite the human spirit.

reignite the human spirit, right? Be a catalyst for helping others to mobilize their passions, their efforts, and be able to actually take action on their dreams. you know, fast forward along the way, you know, again, as I started coaching people around using speaking, I became a professional speaker and people started to ask me, how the heck are you doing this? Like, how are you going out and speaking? So I’ve coached people on how to go out and get booked and paid to speak. But primarily people come to me

who are entrepreneurs who want to use speaking. They don’t want to become the next Les Brown or Tony Robbins or whatever, get on big stages and get paid. They don’t mind, wouldn’t mind getting paid, but they want to use speaking to grow their business, to grow their confidence and their impact from stage, trust with their clients, et cetera, et cetera. So that’s kind of a nutshell of my origin story and how I came to be a speaker and coach for entrepreneurs.

    Quentin Edmonds (10:50)
    Man,

I love it. I mean, I can just show you my notepads and letter with notes as you talk it out. I’m taking notes and I love you walking us through the journey. I love when you talked about the flow, what you do with time flies. I think that resonates with me because I say this every podcast. I say destiny has no wasted moments, no wasted moments. Meaning no matter what we go through in life.

We are picking up fragments. I like to talk about the mosaic, right? The mosaic is this big, beautiful picture, but it’s made up of these tiny fragments. And if we’re talking about our life, tiny fragments of our life that make us who we are. And so listening to you talk, man, you have absolutely personified what I try to tell people about how Destiny has no wasted moments,

And so I love it. And I normally ask this, but you so eloquently already answered just how destiny has led you to these moments. And I love how you said you came to the point where you are supposed to ignite the human spirit. mean, ⁓ I mean, that’s, cause I want people to know we all, you call it the flow. I say the superpower. I like yours way better, right? Like we all have something that we can harness that’s going to make us

    Clinton Young (11:41)
    Yes.

    Quentin Edmonds (12:10)
indispensable that will make us stand out. And I love how you said the flow because this is what you do in time just flies by. Like you look back and say, man, like how did I get to this moment? Because I was having so much fun. And so I would love for you to talk more to people about harnessing the moments that they had in life. Like how do they recognize the moments that are right in front of them?

    Clinton Young (12:19)
    Mm.

    Yes.

Mmm. So good, man. And by the way, Q, I got the chills like three times when you were talking as well. And I always say, follow the tingles. Follow the tingles, right? I got the tingles a couple minutes ago. Man, it sounds a little goofy, but follow the tingles, because that’s your intuition.

    Quentin Edmonds (12:55)
    You’re giving me all kinds

of language, man. You’re giving me all kinds of language. I’m sorry, please continue.

    Clinton Young (13:00)
    It’s all good, man.

That’s, that’s your intuition. That’s your source, whatever you believe in. Right. I’m not, I’m not religious at all. I’m more spiritual more than anything, but I believe that we’re all spiritual beings having a very human experience on this planet and following the tingles is it’s like your guidance system. Right. So follow that, lean into that. If you could see my microphone, it says the word courage on it. There’s a lion behind me. Right. You’ve got to have courage.

    Quentin Edmonds (13:08)
    Thank you.

    Clinton Young (13:26)
to take action in spite of fear because that’s where the magic happens, baby. And I’m gonna give you a formula right now where you could really harness who you are in that flow. You’ve got to find a way. This is my formula. I call this the magical success formula. Magical success formula. And I don’t know if we have time to just share that. We got a couple minutes here. I can share the story. So picture this. I’m in Kauai. It’s an island in Hawaii.

    Quentin Edmonds (13:47)
Yes, sir. Please do. Yes, sir.

    Clinton Young (13:54)
My favorite, I’d say it’s the only one I’ve ever been to, but it’s amazing. It’s like Jurassic Park over there, right? I’m sitting on this, this Lanai, which is like a porch in Hawaii. And it’s, overlooking Hanalei Bay, one of my favorite places on the planet. It’s absolutely magical. And this was in actually 2010. This was just after I was at the microphone and the guys like Clinton, you’re dead inside. So just to give everyone a timeline here, 2008 crashed and burned, right?

2010 at the microphone, Clinton, you’re dead inside. A couple months later, I’m taking a walk. Boom, my purpose is revealed to me, reigniting the human spirit. Okay, I’m still in 2010, now I’m in Hawaii. And my wife and I are sitting there watching American Idol. Yes, I said it, Q, we watch American Idol from time to time, right? And American Idol is that show where ⁓ people are singing, right? And I love, love, love,

to watch people that are in their flow, right? Would you agree that people that are singing on American Idol, a lot of times, not all the time, especially not in the auditions, but later on in the show, when they’re really in their element, they’re like vibrating at a different level, And that is why it’s so attractive to see someone when they’re in their flow, because as, again, spiritual beings having this very human experience, I believe that is our purpose. Our purpose is to

to find that thing that puts us in our flow.

    Clinton Young (00:00)
So once we have that belief that we can actually do it, we got to have faith, baby. We got to have faith. And again, I don’t mean religious faith. I don’t even mean spiritual faith. Although that’ll help you. What I mean is almost like that little kid confidence, right? You know that little kid? I don’t know if you have kids. But a little kid, you see him out at the park, just like, or you even see him at a restaurant, being like an airplane. They sprout wings. All sudden, they’re flying around. They don’t care. They’re totally, fully self-expressed.

So it’s that little kid confidence, that faith, they don’t even know that things aren’t possible. And you know what, what’s crazy is everything is possible. Our parents, if you’re lucky enough to have a parent that told you, yes, you can do that, anything is possible. We just go through life and we, don’t wanna get too psychological here, but the way our limiting beliefs are formed, something happens as a little kid. It could be a totally benign happenstance or it could be a trauma, could be something that is traumatic. But regardless, whatever happens,

We file it away. The problem is we file it away and we make it mean something that it didn’t actually mean, like the world’s not safe or it’s not fair or I’m so stupid, right? And these beliefs get planted into our subconscious and that’s what creates our filter and our view, our lens through which we see the world in the future. So the challenge is we all, we all can do everything, but we got to have faith that it’s already done. And it’s that blind faith, right? That little kid confidence.

So it’s inspiration plus belief that it’s possible, the vision that we have plus faith that it’s already done, baby. All we gotta do now is the third step. We gotta take action, right? We gotta move our feet and move our mouth. W. Clement Stone says, you tell enough people what it is that you want and somebody’s gonna show up who wants to help you achieve it, right? So you’ve got to move your feet and move your mouth and share your passion. Now there’s a caveat to that. There’s a caveat to that.

There are some people, probably have heard the crabs in a bucket story, right? Where the crabs trying to get out of the bucket. And what does it do? What do the other crabs do? They grab them and they pull them back down, right? So we’ve got to be careful. We’ve got to have enough sort of legs, if you will, underneath our table of belief that this is freaking possible. And the way we do that is surround ourselves with people like Quinton, right? And like Mike and all the folks in his community.

because those are the people that are on the same path as you. And those are the ones that when they see you trying to jump out of that crab out of that bucket, they’re gonna be the crab on the other side pulling you out of the bucket, right? They’re gonna help you out, right? So you gotta be careful who you share with. And if anyone ever says, oh, how are you gonna do that? Go to the next person, because that’s not your tribe, man. Go to the people that are on the same path as you that are five steps ahead of you, 5,000 steps ahead of you, your coaches, your mentors, your colleagues in the space.

because they’re going to say, let’s talk about how we can do that. So inspiration plus belief and faith plus action equals magic and miracles. I’ll tell you what, I’ve created massive, massive miracles in my life around my career, around my investments, my business, my speaking, my coaching, everything out of that one simple formula.

    Quentin (03:13)
Clinton sir, ⁓ man, people who’s been following me, tuning into me as a podcast host, you have given so much language to so many different things that I talk about. And I appreciate the way you are dropping these nuggets, Like, so this what I want you to do. Because man, you don’t gotta sell me, but I believe, you got me fired up.

But I want you to look at our investors, because we talk to investors, we talk to the real estate agent. I want you to look at the real estate professional and tell them why they need what you’re talking about. Because this applies to everybody. But I want you to specifically look to our audience and tell them, this is why this is going to help you in your business.

    Clinton Young (04:02)
100%. Well, we all know who Warren Buffett is, right? Great. One of the greatest investors on the planet. Last time I looked, he was like number four wealthiest person in the world. I was a couple of years ago. He might not be as high now, but he’s up there, man. And he literally has said, he’s gone on record in saying that speaking is the number one tool, the number one skill that every entrepreneur must master in today’s day and age.

to grow themselves and grow their business. It’s the number one skill to learn. It’s public speaking. How do you carry yourself? And again, you don’t have to worry about trying to become a keynote speaker and get on stages of thousands. I’m not talking about that. You can do that if that’s your personality, but some of the best speakers I’ve come across are introverts, right? And they can get up there and crush it on a smaller stage, right? And they can even crush it on a bigger stage too. There’s a whole nother concept around flow, introvert, extrovert. It doesn’t mean introverts can’t be

Speakers it just means the way they they regain their energy is by going off and hiding in a cave for a week after they speak But it doesn’t mean they can’t be an amazing speaker. Some of the best speakers out there are introverts. So don’t get it twisted That’s not what extrovert introvert means. It means how do you regain energy after I speak? I want to go out and talk to more people because that gives me energy, right? So so okay, so that’s that and my goodness. I just lost my train of thought we were talking about something before that hit me

    Quentin (05:28)
    got you. Absolutely

talking to speak as you talk to our real estate people telling them you said one. Yeah, yeah. ⁓

    Clinton Young (05:32)
    Yes. Warren Buffett.

He goes on Warren Buffett, the great Warren Buffett investor goes on to say that speaking alone can grow your career value, not your annual like this year’s income, your career value can grow your career value by over 50%. Over 50%. Just learning how to pick up the dang microphone. Even if it’s on a podcast or if it’s in a small group of three people.

or an ARIA meeting, right? Real Estate Investor Association meeting. Or maybe it’s your team brokerage becoming a better leader because you can pick up the microphone, the proverbial microphone, you don’t have to have an actual mic, and speak and carry yourself with confidence.

    Quentin (00:00)
Man, I appreciate you so much. think again, you are giving so much language to the different things that I talk about all the time. And so you kind of make me feel like a professional here, man, because I’m telling you, this is the kind of stuff that I say over and over, but I have to give it in a digestible way. And so I appreciate you, man. So listen, if someone wanted to reach out to you, connect with you, collaborate with you, learn more about what you’re doing, how can they get in contact with you,

    Clinton Young (00:23)
    Yeah.

Awesome man. So yeah, I would just say if you’re a real estate professional, you’re an investor, you’re a founder led business and, you’re not speaking.

    Quentin (01:19)
    Come on!

    Clinton Young (01:25)
So have the courage, I invite you to think big, say yes, and take action. That’s my six word story that encapsulates my whole message for the most part. Think big, say yes, and take action. So a couple things. I know that some people that are listening are leaders of teams. They put on conferences, they put on retreats or masterminds or events for their company. And if I said something today that’s moved you, touched you, inspired you, made you feel the tingles,

or you feel like I could add value to your conference, your organization, your team, your sales team, I would absolutely be honored and thrilled to earn your referral as a speaker to come in and help you grow that team, inspire that team, give them the principles that we’re sharing here and the confidence to really rocket their business. So that’s number one. Number two, I know there are some people that are listening that are

The real estate professionals are the same types of people, right? The founder led businesses that want to speak and they maybe you’re already speaking, but you’re not effect, you haven’t been as effective as you know you could be if you just developed a little bit more skill, a little bit more confidence from stage. Again, whether that’s podcasts, Zooms or live, I would also be honored and thrilled to earn your referral as a coaching potential coaching client. Now I don’t work with everybody. You’ve got to go through a little bit of a process.

to really get on my calendar because you’re gonna work directly with me and I only have so much time in the day. So I do curate that but if you think that that’s you and you feel like you could really grow by working with someone like myself then I’m gonna give you, regardless of whether you want to work with me or not, I’m gonna give you all a free gift right now and that is my world-class speaker secrets, okay? So you can go to world-class speaker secrets

Dot-com world-class speaker secrets.com. That’s for everybody listening and that’s a free gift. You can download that for free You will be given then a video to watch by me and there’ll be a select few and I’ll say right in the video like don’t even bother putting your information in if you’re not serious about Really going out and speaking and you’re willing to put in the work, right? But for those of you who do go ahead and schedule one-on-one with me and you can do all of that

right at worldclassspeakersecrets.com. And I forgot to give my own website. Anyone that wants to inquire about working with me, with your sales teams or at your conferences as a speaker or trainer, you can just go to clintonyoung.com, clintonyoung.com. Quentin (04:00)
I love it, man. Listen, I want to just say three things to you. I mean, you’ve said it all, but I need to say three things to you personally. Like thank you for bringing that gift of your narrative to this platform. And lastly, man, thank you for your mindset. Thank you for the way you think and bringing that perspective to this platform. Clinton, it was truly a pleasure. I really appreciate you,

    Clinton Young (04:49)
pleasure. Great to be here with you.

    Quentin (04:50)
Absolutely. So listen, y’all got the value. You can’t tell me you didn’t. I mean, he’s giving away gifts. He gave away game after game. Like, you can’t tell me you didn’t get the value from this. So look in the show notes. Please connect with Clinton. Please connect with him. And listen, I love the dude. That’s my guy. I appreciate him. But definitely make sure you’re subscribed here, because I promise you we’re going to continue to bring up amazing people, just like Mr. Clinton.
